A. G.It is a peaceful magical spot of the area. The historical shed with a great structure, relaxing atmosphere especially evenings with candles and lighting, good food served with a local wines, calm and cheerful service.. Also delighting to meet the owner, Orhan bey :)
Karmaşanın içinde atmosferi, sakinliği, güler yüzlü servisi, lezzetli yemekleri ile harikulade bir mekan. Servis edilen yiyecekler ve eşlikçileri butik işletmelerden sağlanmış, masanızda heykelcikler, ışıklandırma huzur verici, hele bir de Orhan bey ile sohbet ederseniz, çok keyifli bir hatıranız olacaktır.

J. T.You need 6 stars to describe the atmosphere while eating in a 1700 year old Byzantine boat house. Decor is nice. There are some nice puzzles and games in a niche to occupy little ones.
The food and service was excellent. Would definitely eat here again!
EDIT: Forgot about the free bookmarks patrons receive. They are nice little souvenirs. I look forward to finding them in books from time to time and being reminded of a fond memory with the family.

A. S.The best place we've been to in Istanbul. The restaurant is filled with numerous books, trinkets, figurines, and collectibles. Its unique atmosphere combined with impeccable service made it our go-to place. The staff gave us a warm welcome every time we went there, and offered some free tea and a discount. The food was great, and there are nice options for vegans and vegetarians. If I had to recommend only one restaurant in Istanbul, I would definitely name this one.

Her şey çok lezzetliydi☺️ Yarın için bir masa ayırttım. Şefler harika. Artı, restoranın kendisi, içinde küçük bir kale gibi görünen çok hoş bir yer.

A. L.Lovely venue and a very friendly team. We were a large group and everyone was happy with their food and drinks. The only catch is the kitchen battled for our large group and some are an hour after others. Only a concern for large group - well recommended otherwise.

T. D.Wir verbrachten unseren letzten Abend in Istanbul in diesem wunderschönen Restaurant, mit romantischer Atmosphäre in einem alten Tonnengewölbe. Als Vorspeise hatten wir Babagannus mit Brot. Als Hauptgang hatten wir die Seafood Casserole (extrem lecker) und einen vegetarischen Claypot mit Reis. Und als Dessert hatten wir das Zeugma Künefe und Home Made Ice Cream. Wir haben wirklich viel in Istanbul gegessen, aber dieses Restaurant war mit Abstand das Beste. Nicht nur das Ambiente war toll, auch der Service war hervorragend. Super nette und herzliche Menschen! Sollten wir wieder einmal nach Istanbul kommen, werden wir definitiv wieder hier essen gehen! Danke für den tollen Abend 👏🏻
R. M.Not easy to find vegetarian places in Turkey, it’s all about kebab, but this place has excellent options for vegans and vegetarians. Try the Vegetarian Ânfora, it’s tasty and a show the way they cook and serve.

И. Ч.Astonishing place and atmosphere - just around the corner from your hotel you get beer and cocktails in Roman house built in CE 361. Drinks and service are great. I wish good luck to such a unique place. It really desreves to be visited!
P. S.We had a very late lunch here today. Great place to eat, have a glass of wine or wine tasting. Lots of menu choices, nice music, good food and wine, and service at a relaxing pace. One of the places we have enjoyed the most.

Das Lokal toll und geschmackvoll eingerichtet, die Atmosphäre ist durch die warme Beleuchtung, der einheimischen Hintergrundmusik besonders entspannend. Das essen ( Garnelen, Tintenfisch im Gemüse geschmort. Danach Könefe mit typischem türkischen Eis ) noch nie so gut geschmeckt. Der Kellner oder sogar Chef ein angenehmer Mensch. Ich habe es genossen.

O. R.Fantastic little place! We stumbled over this little pearl of a restaurant by accident thanks to a hint by another cool location just around the corner (check the rabbit hole cafe!) and ended up eating and drinking the whole night. The owner was super friendly and a great sport, considering we're a loud crowd. But he was really passionate about the history, his wines and his food, it was impossible not to follow all his tales, and the interior reflects this being designed with obvious love and detail. Needless to say the wine and the food was great. I don't know how often i'll be in Istanbul, but the Arch Bistro is already on my list for the next visit.

T. J.Wir waren zum Abendessen im Restaurant, ich hatte mich für ein Gericht aus einer Ton Amphore entschieden und meine Frau hatte ein Gericht in einer Kasserolle. Mein Essen war schon von der Darreichung ein Highlight 😎, die Amphore kommt brennend auf einem Tablett und wird am Tisch geköpft. Es sah aber nicht nur spektakulär aus, es schmeckte auch dementsprechend gut 😋 so wie auch das in der Kasserolle.
Einfach lecker und bereits deshalb empfehlenswert. Darüber hinaus war die Einrichtung des Restaurants sehr ansprechend und gemütlich. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

D. C.One of my favorite dining experiences in Istanbul. First of all, the owner was very helpful in defining on WhatsApp the vegan choices. When we arrived we were greeted at the door of their incredibly beautiful place by the very charming owner. The meal was fantástico from start to finish. We shared a vegan Mezze plate which was very large and delicious. Followed by my wife’s not so vegan choice which was a show in itself and my pide (Turkish style pizza) with many vegetables- not on the menu and was decidedly fantastic. The food we ordered was really delicious - we got the meze platter as a starter, the chicken casserole, and Alexander's yogurt kebab. All 3 dishes were phenomenal. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. I would definitely return to Arch Bistro for another fantastic meal.

My favorite is the grilled sea bass (so fresh the taste is sweet) and their Ottoman Kebap is a feast not only in your stomach but also in your eyes. Plus the age and looks of the place brings authenticity to our experience of Turkey.

There was great atmosphere and the service staff were very enthusiastic. However, the wine pairing was 4x glasses of wine with 4 small appetisers that were served at the start (not matched meals). The staff also had no knowledge of the wine and were unable to answer simple questions eg what type of grape.
Overall, it was a fun night and a joyful venue however if you're after a proper wine tasting, this is not your venue.

We stopped by in the evening on our first day (just for drinks), and immediately knew that this is a special spot. Such a beautiful atmosphere and so welcoming. We enjoyed an amazing breakfast there the next morning! Ended up stopping back in that night for more drinks and great conversation. We couldn't recommend Arch Bistro enough. It became our "regular spot" for the short time we were in Istanbul. Extra thanks to Deniz! He is the best.

The lamb shank practically fell off the bone, it was so tender, and the seafood casserole's sauce was so good we finished it off with bread after I had finished the meal. One element that makes this restaurant particularly special is the service. We ordered a carafe of wine, and the restaurant owner used it as an opportunity to serve us from a replica of an ancient wine carafe, and showed us how it worked. He and the other staff members were friendly, and perfectly hit the note of checking in on us and making us feel welcome while also giving us time to enjoy our date. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Istanbul and looking for a special evening.
e.The Arch Bistro was clearly the culinary highlight of our 5 nights in Istanbul. A superb location, rich of history, with an ample selection of Byzantine and Ottoman -inspired dishes, using high quality produce for a very fair pricing. T.This little gem was a pleasant surprise. Decor was reflective of its history as a Roman boat yard from 316 BCE. Food was also excellent and a lovely selection of wines too. They cater for Vegans and Vegetarians too.

As Professor of ancient history at University of Minnesota Roland Marchese wrote on tripadvisor "The Arch Bistro is in a rewamped 'boat house' of the Byzantine period. The boat house here were in operation when the Arbs first attacked the city around 671. From these protected house the Byzantines sailed forth to attack the Arab fleet with 'Greek fire' the first known example of its use. But this is only part of the history of the place.

O.Good food and excellent service. But what's the best about this restaurant is the atmosphere. Eating in a building that's 1700 years is something special, especially if renovation is done well. Was our last day, but we would have gone there again, if we would have stayed longer.

Mesmerizing. Slightly pricey compared to other food places but it was expected.

The venue is really interesting, too: the whole restaurant is set under a stone arch that (apparently) dates back to the early Byzantine period. We're super glad we found it, and we'll definitely come back!

Difficult to translate, one staff member in particular (the main woman tending to customers and serving food) was quite rude. From asking about food to trying to split the bill. We tried explaining what we would each pay for but she got frustrated and another member of staff (the man) intervened and sent her off.

P. Z.One of the most beautiful places for coffee, food or breakfast at the old town. Very good variety of tasty traditional dishes, beautiful, cozy decoration at the indoor seating with nice and warm atmosphere. The prices are reasonable, the staff is helpful and friendly.

If you want a nice meal away from the bustle of the town centre, this is your best bet.

Were lucky to find a place as it seems a popular place.
Has 5-6 tabels for 2-3 people and other 2 tables for 6+.
We paid approx 150tl for two people: apetizers, main course, dessert and drinks.

Food was tasty. The service was good. The real distinction for this restaurant is the decoration, beautiful interior and a great date place.
Lastly, but very importantly, they have baby chairs!
A. D.We failed in our first attempt to find this place in the maze of old city streets but were so pleased we tried again the next night. The setting under the original 7th Century arch ceiling was most atmospheric. The informality, both of the staff and of the seating at shared tables, was made for an enjoyable experience. Not particularly cheap but the house wine was good value and drinkable. Despite being a cold night, the room filed up quickly - probably best to go early.
